WX self-service updates: feature comparison (Y23.3)

This page details the functional differences introduced as part of the WX navigation beta in Y23.3, with a detailed feature comparison against existing functionality. This side-by-side comparison is designed to aid customers in trialing the new navigation, to aid in migrating to the new layout, and to indicate further changes that will be introduced in later releases.

For up to date information about WX self-service changes in Y23.4, see Y23.4 WX self-service updates.

Y23.3

The main navigation for the WX portal has been moved to a new responsive side menu. This menu combines the features previously available in the service bar/tab menu and the navigation bar in the old portal. For services that host multiple processes, these open in a secondary menu.

Y23.3

In the old interface, selecting any service in the menu opens a service landing page consisting of default tiles for each process within the service. Most of these service landing pages will no longer be displayed. Instead, users can navigate directly to the process they need by selecting it from the navigation menu without an additional click.

Service landing pages will still be displayed in 2 scenarios:

  • The first service in a user's menu (their homepage) will always display a service tile page.

  • Any service that contains only processes of the types Internal Communication and/or Summary will display a service tile page.

For services that contain other types of process and that are not the first service in the menu, no service page is displayed.

Note Any noticeboards that are assigned to the service pages that are no longer displayed should be moved into the processes themselves.

Future

Homepage tiles for processes other than Internal Communication and Summary will be removed in a future release.

Updated homepage layout

Updated homepage: summaries

Y23.3

An updated homepage and service page layout has been introduced in release Y23.3. This introduces two new components:

  • A new carousel component that displays internal communications

  • A new community updates section that displays summary processes.

These updates to the homepage and service pages are controlled by the Updated WX Homepage setting on the HCM Configure page. When this setting is enabled, the WX homepage and any service landing pages are displayed with the new components.

Note Any processes other than supported Internal Communications and Summary that are assigned to your homepage or service pages are not displayed. See New WX self-service homepage (beta) for more details.

Internal Communications

The new carousel component groups all supported Internal Communications processes into a scrollable carousel, ordered from left to right according to your process order settings. You can change the title and subtitle that appears in this section with the new fields Service Page Title and Service Page Subtitle. By default, the service name is used.

Summaries

Carousel summaries appear in a new Community updates page section. Count summaries are displayed directly above this section. Both sections respect the relative ordering in your process order settings. You can change the title and subtitle that appears in this section with the new fields Community Section Title and Community Section Subtitle. To view details for carousel summaries, select the arrow at the top right of the card.

The View Details link for count-type summary processes is not yet supported when using the updated homepage layout. This feature will be considered for inclusion in a future Sage People release.

Future

In future releases, further homepage components will be added, including time off, external links, and actions, enabling improved interaction for users. These new components will allow customers to build feature-rich homepages that enable users to quickly perform key tasks, with enhanced customization and branding capabilities.

Y23.3

When viewing another Team Member, a new profile view has been introduced. This provides an intuitive view of another user's processes without switching menu context.

Future

The profile view will be enhanced with additional features, including the ability to view a user's contact details. A My Profile page will be introduced, enabling users to easily update their own profile details including their profile photo.

My Team view

A My Team navigation menu item enables managers to quickly access their management processes and direct reports.

Y23.3

The count of pending actions beside each service and process name in the existing navigation menu has been replaced with action dot icons. A dot is displayed beside service and process names if there are pending actions against the process.

The Actions bell at the top right of the interface has been removed in the new navigation. This functionality is now covered using the Actions item in the left navigation, which displays a count of pending actions.

Future

In a future release, icons will be introduced for all menu items. The location of action dots will be moved to improve usability.

Process pages

Legacy process page

New process page

Y23.3

The layout of process pages is largely unchanged in the beta, which focuses on a streamlined navigation structure. Some cosmetic changes have been introduced, such as a new page border design to match the look and feel of the new navigation.

A Team View/Personal View toggle is available on relevant process pages for managers, to make switching contexts more intuitive.

Future

In future releases, many processes will be redesigned to improve user experience and enhance the design of the portal.

You can now visit a team member's profile from their entry in the Org Chart. Select Go to profile to be taken to the user's profile page.

This feature has been made available in both the old and new navigation.
