Outbound setup overview

Important This content is part of a pilot release. If you haven't been contacted to be part of this pilot, refer to our standard content for Sage People Payflow

An outbound service sends a Payflow download file to the file transfer platform, which is then forwarded to or retrieved by your third-party provider.

Tip You can configure a single service to test it before continuing to configure other Payflow services. If migrating from the legacy platform, you do not need to migrate all your services in one go, and can transition to the new platform over a period of time if required.

Before you start

If you are planning to use file forwarding or encryption, gather information from the third-party provider about their system, such as their connection and authentication details, and obtain any PGP public keys you will need for file encryption.

In Sage People Payflow

  1. Set the SFTP service setting for the Payflow service. This configures the Payflow service to use the enhanced file transfer platform.

  2. Configure SFTP credentials for the Payflow service. This creates a user on the file transfer platform that enables Payflow to deposit files.

  3. Configure outbound settings to add the outgoing server address and path for file transfer platform. This defines the location on the file transfer platform where files will be deposited.

In the file transfer platform

  1. Decide how files will be transferred to the third-party provider and configure the system accordingly:

    1. Using file forwarding: files are pushed automatically to the third-party system, with optional encryption.

    2. Using file collection: the third-party system logs in to the file transfer platform to retrieve files.
