Before you start: gather information
Before you begin, you’ll need the following information from the third-party provider.
-
If you’re planning to use file forwarding, gather the following information from the third-party provider about their system:
-
The destination IP/DNS address for the third-party system
-
The port number for the third-party system
Note If the port is anything other than the standard SFTP port 22, you'll need to raise a support case. We'll need to know the port number required before testing. This will allow us to enable custom ports in our internal security systems before they'll be available for use -
The destination folder into which the files will be forwarded
-
The username and authentication details for the connection to the third party
-
If using password authentication, also obtain the password for the connection to the third party
-
If using SSH authentication for the connection, you must source an SSH key pair, and provide the public part of the key pair to the third party
-
-
-
If you’re planning to encrypt files before delivery to the third party:
-
Obtain the public part of the PGP encryption key from the third-party provider.
-
-
If you’re planning to use file signing, you must source a PGP key pair from your IT department. You'll then provide the public part to the third party provider.
-
If you’re planning to use SSH authentication, you must source an SSH key pair from your IT department, and provide the public part to the third party provider.
Next, Set the SFTP service.
