Adding a new tab for an object (Salesforce Lightning Experience)

Note

You need administrator access to add a tab for an object if the tab is not visible on the App Launcher.

  1. Go to Setup > User Interface > Tabs.

  2. In the Custom Object Tabs section select New.

  3. Complete the fields as follows:

    Field What to enter
    Object Select the picklist and choose the object name.
    Tab Style Select the field to display the Tab Style Selector. Choose a tab style with an associated icon to display at the head of the tab page.
    Splash Page Custom Link Leave the default setting, None.
    Description Enter a brief description.
  4. Select Next.

    Sage People displays the Add to Profiles page.

  5. With the Apply one tab visibility to all profiles radio button selected, select the picklist and choose Default Off to set the default for all profiles.

  6. Now activate the Tab Visibility list by selecting the Apply a different tab visibility for each profile radio button.

  7. In the Tab Visibility list select Default On for the profiles you wan to have access to the new tab. Typically:

    • Fairsail Administrator

    • Fairsail HR Manager

    • System Administrator

  8. Select Next.

    Sage People displays the Add to Custom Apps page. By default the tab is included for all apps.

  9. Deselect the Include Tab checkbox to change the default to exclude the tab from all apps, then select the apps you want to display the new tab.

    Typically, include the tab for the Sage People apps you expect to require default access to the records included in the tab.

    To enable the tab to be added to apps without default access, select the checkbox for the App Launcher.

  10. Select Save.

The new tab is added to the apps you selected and is turned on for the profiles where you set tab visibility to Default On.
