Talent Plan overview

The Talent Plan process enables a manager or HR Administrator to record team member performance against potential, and risk of leaving against impact of loss. Results are displayed graphically using 9 box grids for individual team members on an org chart view and, if configured, for teams as a whole. The default is org chart view.

You can view talent plans for reports 2 levels down the org chart from you. The talent plan for your direct reports can be viewed by managers 2 levels up from you. For example, your manager's manager can see the plans of their own direct reports, as well as the plan for your direct reports. This encompasses team members across 3 org chart levels.

Note

There is a processing limit of 1000 employees for the number of Team Members displayed in the Talent Plan. If the 3 org chart levels below the subject contain more than 1000 employees, only the first 1000 Team Members retrieved are displayed.

The Talent Plan is not seen by the team member, and is typically entered by the manager.

To set up Talent Plan for your users:

  • Set the Policy options to give access to the views you want.
  • All labels on the Talent Plan 9 Box Grid view are Custom Labels, enabling full customization and translation.
  • If you select the Talent Plan 9 Box Grid view, ensure Team Member visibility is defined to enable display in Grid view.

You can see Team Members in the Talent Plan 9 Box Grid if:

  • Talent Plan 9 Box Grid is checked in your Policy.
  • The Team Member's manager can view the Team Member's Talent Plan.

    • If the manager is a cross reporting manager for the Team Member, make sure that Talent Plan is checked for that type of cross reporting manager on the Configure page.
    • If the Team Member’s manager cannot view the Team Member’s Talent Plan, the Team Member is displayed in the Unclassified box.
  • The Team Member has a Talent Plan.

If the Team Member does not have a Talent Plan, the Team Member is displayed in the Unclassified box.
