Managing your custom domain

A My Domain URL, or custom domain, is an organization-specific identifier. You'll use it as a subdomain for your organization's Sage People login page and as the subdomain for any Salesforce sites you configure.

With an org-specific URL, you can set up a custom-branded login page, set a custom login policy, and offer a single sign-on.

Use the My Domain page to manage your My Domain URL, configure custom branding for your organization's login page, and define authentication options.

My Domain URL

Your implementer will typically set up your organization's My Domain URL as part of the initial org setup. You need to consider the domain name you choose carefully, because changing it affects other settings connected to your organization's domain name.

Important Changing your My Domain URL affects your SSO details, links in email templates, and any Salesforce Sites or Experience Cloud sites you configure. You need to plan any changes carefully and carry them out only if strictly necessary. The change will prevent users from signing in using a single sign-on. This means you need to take immediate action if you change your domain name.

Update the My Domain for your organization

  1. Go to Setup. In Quick Find, enter My Domain.
  2. On the My Domain page, select Edit under My Domain Details.
  3. Enter your chosen subdomain, and select Check Availability. Find a unique subdomain that's not already in use.
  4. The system sets the Domain Suffix at the default value of Standard (*.my.salesforce.com).
  5. Select Save to register the new domain.
  6. Salesforce will provision the new domain. Salesforce will notify you by email when they provision the domain.
  7. When Salesforce provisions the domain, return to the My Domain page to deploy the new domain. Or cancel your changes and keep the old domain.
