Promoting Docusign apps from development to production

Before Sage People can complete the integration setup inside your org, you need to act in your Docusign account. You'll send some key details to us.

This ensures:

  • The system creates the integration inside your Docusign instance

  • You capture the correct Account Base URI, Integration Key, Secret Key, and User ID

  • The system adds redirect URLs correctly using your Salesforce My Domain

  • That we can securely access these values via Salesforce Files in your org

When you create a new integration app in Docusign, you can only do so in your Developer (Demo) environment. Docusign does this deliberately.

This means you must promote new apps from Developer to Production before you can use them. We've shown a user creating this in the example below. If you try to create this directly in Production, the system will block it. It will display a message telling you that you need to create the app in your Developer Account. We expect you to see this behavior.

Resolution

  1. Log in to Docusign Admin in your developer account.

  2. Go to Apps & Keys.

  3. Click Add App and Integration Key.

  4. Give it a name. For example, Sage People Integration.

  5. Integration Type: ThirdParty Integration.

Docusign handles the promotion process entirely. It's a short approval step where Docusign checks the integration is legitimate and ready for live use.

You can follow the official Docusign instructions to request a Go-Live Review: How to Go-Live in three steps.

The App Type in this instance is Third-Party Integration.

The Promoting Your App section gives exact instructions that you can use with our steps.

After promotion

Once Docusign marks the app as Live, you can generate the Production‑level credentials you need later in the process. This includes the Integration Key, Secret Key, User ID, and Private / Public RSA keys. These are the details you need to add into Sage People. It's so the connection can run against your live Docusign account.

If you try to generate these credentials in Production before the promotion is complete, Docusign will redirect you back to the Developer account. It will tell you to promote the app first.

This process is normal. All new Docusign integrations require it and you only need to do it once. After you promote the app, everything works exactly the same way as it did in the Developer environment.
